ADP, KDP and DKDP are traditional non-linear materials manufactured by Saint-Gobain Crystals and used for frequency conversion of laser beams.
Products Available
KDP crystals can be supplied with dimensions up to 270mm x 270mm and polished with dimensions up to 150mm x 150mm.
The deuteration level of DKDP is 90% minimum.
Other Properties
DKDP displays interesting electro-optic properties. For example its half wave voltage Vl/2 of 3kV is largely inferior to the one of KDP (7.6kV), used in Pockels cells.
May 20, 1998: The biggest KDP crystal ever produced in the world so far, was grown at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory by a French-US team, as part of a collaboration between Saint-Gobain Crystals, CEA and LLNL.
The crystal was grown in 57 days using a new and fast crystal growth technology we developed together with LLNL. The crystal (503mm x 503mm x 528mm, 250kg) will be cut into plates of 400mm x 400mm x 10mm, which will serve as frequency multipliers in the Laser fusion experiment.
December 18, 1998: A workshop dedicated to the production of KDP plates of large dimensions was inaugurated in the presence of a CEA delegation.
